Three powerful innovations for rough edges

New films from allvac also protect sharp products: allflex SX, allflex EX and allflex SX Plus.

Whether it's lobsters, crayfish, sausage products with metal clips or meat with bones: when packaging food that is angular, sharp or irregularly shaped, the demands on the packaging material increase. Allvac has developed two new products, allflex SX and allflex EX, for these difficult cases. The 11-layer films guarantee particularly high puncture and tear resistance. And if even greater puncture resistance is required, the third innovation, allflex SX Plus with 40% PA content, comes into play. 

‘Our customers need packaging solutions that work reliably even with challenging products and shapes,’ says Dr Andreas S. Gasse, Managing Director of allvac Folien GmbH, based in Waltenhofen (Allgäu). ‘This is precisely why we have developed our three new products, allflex SX, allflex EX and allflex SX Plus. They protect angular, sharp or pointed food items – from the packaging process to the shop counter.’

allflex SX: dimensionally stable and secure

allflex SX consists of an 11-layer PA/PE composite structure and is available in thicknesses from 100 to 350 µ. This makes it not only highly formable, but also particularly tear- and puncture-resistant – ideal for packaging angular or sharp products such as meat with bones, shellfish, bacon, spare ribs or hard cheese. Even under heavy use, it remains dimensionally stable and provides reliable protection against damage. Thanks to its high sealing performance, it ensures a secure seal and contributes to shelf life with its excellent barrier properties.

allflex EX: the dimensionally stable film with a high barrier

allflex EX is also an 11-layer film made of PA/PE composite and has the same properties as allflex SX. Its special advantage: thanks to its additional EVOH high-barrier layer, it reliably protects particularly sensitive foods and thus extends the shelf life.

Strong with shellfish

allflex SX and allflex EX are particularly well suited for securely packaging seafood specialities with hard shells, such as prawns, lobsters, crabs or crayfish. "Many standard films reach their limits here because they tear during the packaging process or gradually give way during storage and transport. This is not the case with our new allflex SX and allflex EX products," explains Thomas Herbst, Sales Manager at allvac.

Versatile 

The two films, allflex SX and allflex EX, are used in a wide variety of applications in the food industry. They package seafood just as securely and reliably as hard cheese or meat and sausage products containing bones. Thanks to different film thicknesses between 100 and 350 µ, they can be flexibly adapted to product-specific requirements. 

Even more robust: allflex SX Plus

For applications where even the high puncture resistance of allflex SX and allflex EX is not sufficient, allvac offers another innovation: the allflex SX Plus film. With a polyamide content of 40%, this optimised version is even more resistant and is suitable for particularly demanding food packaging – such as the packaging of fresh spare ribs or shellfish, such as crabs.
